Karsten Heuer Conservation Award

Karsten's colleagues from the Banff Bison Reintroduction project initiated an award in his honour through the Alberta and Canadian Chapters of The Wildlife Society to be given out once a year to an early career biologist working on large landscape conservation, restoration or science communication.   Learn more and donate here.

In the fall of 2026 I was tasked with describing the award. In the end I wrote a letter to Karsten telling him about it.
